Shanghai Construction Group Ltd. Overseas Engineering Branch (“S.C.G. Overseas”) is a unit directly under Shanghai Construction Group that engages in overseas business. The scope of its business major in housing construction, road and bridges construction, municipal engineering works, and ports and airports, and also referring to investment and financing projects, international contracting projects, foreign aid projects, envoy projects and other types of projects.
Since the 1960s, SCG’s business and marketing have spread all over the world. The projects undertaken cover more than 150 cities in 34 provincial administrative regions in China. It has undertaken construction projects in 42 countries or regions overseas, including 36 projects in the “Belt and Road Initiative” countries, with more than 2100 projects under construction, and a total construction area of more than 120 million square meters.
As a leading Chinese construction company fulfilling the“going out policy”, Shanghai Construction Overseas has actively responded to the“Belt and Road Initiative”. In 2020, it ranked 9th among the 250 largest engineering contractors in the world by the US Engineering News Record (ENR) and ranked 363 among the world top 500 enterprises. In 2019, it won the honor of "Shanghai Civilized Unit" for the sixth consecutive time. In 2018, it was awarded the "Leading" Enterprise in Social Responsibility Performance Evaluation of China's Foreign Contracting Companies.
